Apheresis (linguistics)
In phonetics, apheresis ( or ; ; from Greek apo away, hairein to take) is the loss of one or more sounds from the beginning of a word, especially the loss of an unstressed vowel.

Aphérèse (linguistique)
En linguistique, l'aphérèse (du grec ἀφαίρεσις aphaíresis, « ablation ») est une modification phonétique impliquant la perte d'un ou plusieurs phonèmes au début d'un mot. L'aphérèse est un métaplasme s'opposant à l'apocope.

Afereza (jezykoznawstwo)
Afereza - proces fonetyczny polegający na zaniku głoski lub głosek w nagłosie (na początku wyrazu). Np. w języku polskim skra < iskra.

W języku irlandzkim możliwa jest sytuacja jakby przeciwna do elizji: samogłoski [a] oraz [i] ulegają zanikowi w nagłosie, na przykład tá [tα:] (forma czasownika być) + an [an] (rodzajnik określony) = [tα:n] (w piśmie zanik ten nie jest zaznaczany).
