Antique Red Heart Cypress
Antique Red Heart Cypress is yet another specialty wood floor product from the reclaiming of logs in the swamps of the Southeastern United States. Sometimes called Tidewater and Bald Cypress, this product is now available as a result of efforts of a new breed of loggers who are recovering the very logs originally cut and lost in the swamps and rivers from years gone by.
This 75 to 200 year old product can never be duplicated, thus making it a very sought after material for flooring, wall paneling, large raw timbers, lumber and moldings & trims. These beautiful logs are cut into planks of various widths, tongue & grooved, with special cuts made to order. The beautiful tans to red colors make this a very attractive product not only for flooring, but wall paneling, moldings and trims, with the added characteristics of being highly resistant to rot and insects. Pecky Cypress is the most sought after and popular paneling boards of this reclaimed product. Both the "green" (new cut) and "old" (Antique Heart) Cypress can be used for many Architectural and Design treatments. The wood is cut to many specifications, with various grades available. Clear has no knots, Select having minimal knots and character grade having more knots and coloring variations. Inventories of this product are very limited to a few manufacturers and mills.
