antidromic
adj. carrying nerve impulses in a direction opposite the normal one (Physiology)

Wikipedia English The Free EncyclopediaDownload this dictionary
Antidromic
For most neurons, their dendritessoma, or axons are depolarized forming an action potential that moves from the starting point of the depolarization toward the axons of the neuron. An antidromic impulse in an axon refers to conduction opposite to the normal, orthodromic direction. Antidromic impulses are important in Long-term potentiation as well as the pain response to inflamation.
