Anti-Slavery International

Anti-Slavery International is a charity and lobby group, based in the United Kingdom. It was founded as the British and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society in 1839. It was established to campaign against the modern practice of slavery. It is the UK affiliate of Free the Slaves and works entirely combating Slavery and related abuse. The organisation lobbies governments of countries with slavery to act against it. The organisation lobbies governments and international agencies to increase the priority of combating slavery. The organisation aids research to find out the extent of slavery. The organisation works to increase awareness of slavery. Anti-Slavery International informs the public that slavery is a real issue today. Their goal is a world without slaves. Anti-Slavery International is een liefdadigheidsinstelling en lobbygroep, gevestigd in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. De organisatie werd in 1839 opgericht als 'British and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society' om campagne te voeren tegen slavernijpraktijken . Het is een zusterorganisatie van het in de Verenigde Staten gevestigde Free the Slaves.
