Annan railway station serves the town of
Annan in
Dumfries and Galloway,
Scotland. It is located on the
Glasgow South Western Line and is managed by
First ScotRail who provide all passenger train services.Until the early 1980s, the goods yard at Annan station was still in regular use. The station was also used for the dispatch of fresh fish to London until the mid to late 1980s.Annan station is where the
single track line from Gretna reverts to double track. This can necessitate Eastbound trains waiting at Annan station for a Westbound service to clear the single track section. However, as part of recently announced plans to improve operating flexibility, this stretch is being converted back into a dual track stretch
