Anemoi

In Greek mythology, the Anemoi (in Greek, Άνεμοι — "winds") were wind gods who were each ascribed a cardinal direction, from which their respective winds came, and were each associated with various seasons and weather conditions. They were sometimes represented as mere gusts of wind, at other times were personified as winged men, and at still other times were depicted as horses kept in the stables of the storm god Aeolus, who provided Odysseus with the Anemoi in the Odyssey. Astraeus, the astrological deity sometimes associated with Aeolus, and Eos, the goddess of the dawn, were the parents of the Anemoi, according to the Greek poet Hesiod.

En la mitología griega, los Anemoi (en griego antiguo Άνεμοι, ‘vientos’) eran dioses del viento, que se correspondían con los puntos cardinales desde los que venían sus respectivos vientos y que estaban relacionados con las distintas estaciones y estados meteorológicos. A veces eran representados como simples ráfagas de viento y otras se les personificaba como hombres alados, e incluso en ocasiones tomaban la forma de caballos encerrados en los establos del dios de las tormentas Eolo, quien proveyó a Odiseo con los Anemoi en La Odisea. Astreo, la deidad astrológica a veces asociada con Eolo, y Eos, la diosa de la aurora, eran los padres de los Anemoi según el poeta griego Hesíodo.

במיתולוגיה היוונית, זפירוס או זפיר הוא אל הרוח המערבית, שחי, כך נטען, במערה בתראקיה, אזור בצפון-מזרח יוון (של היום). הוא בנם של הטיטנית אאוס, אלת השחר, ואיאולוס, אל הרוחות, ואחיהם של בוריאס (אל הרוח הצפונית), יורוס (אל הרוח המזרחית) ונוטוס (אל הרוח הדרומית). זפירוס הוא מבשר האביב, המביא בכנפיו רוח מפרה, חמימה ונעימה. מקבילו הרומאי של זפירוס הוא פאבוניוס, שהיה אחראי גם על פריחת הצמחים והפרחים.על פי סיפורים שונים, זפירוס היה נשוי למספר נשים:זפירוס היה בעלה של איריס, אלת הקשת בענן ושליחת האלים.זפירוס חטף את האלה כלוריס והעניק לה שליטה על עונת האביב. מאוחר יותר הוא התחתן עימה, והיא ילדה לו את אמפיקס, מופסוס וקארפוס. כמו כן, מסופר עליו שיחד עם ההרפייה (מפלצת מיתית בעלת ראש של אישה וגוף של ציפור) פודארג' הוא הוליד את בליוס וקסנתוס, סוסיו של אכילס.
