Andrew Li Kwok-nang, CBE, DLitt (Hon.), (, born December, 1948) is a judge in Hong Kong, and is currently Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China (HKSAR) - a position second only to the Chief Executive of Hong Kong in the Hong Kong Precedence list. He was appointed after the 1997 Hong Kong hand-over. A well respected source - the South China Morning Post - reported on 24.06.2006 that Andrew Li's judiciary had imprisoned a well-known political activist for 42 weeks simply for staging a peaceful public demonstration outside a public institution because the judiciary did not approve of what the demonstration was about. All of the witnesses at the trial said the activist was staging a public demonstration and was completely peaceful. Since 1997, many ordinary Hong Kongers feel Andrew has steadily orchestrated the move from "the rule of law" to the "rule of judges".
