Anatomical Automatic Labeling (AAL) is a computer program package and a digital human
brain atlas. It is particularly used in research-based human
functional neuroimaging, where it is used to obtain a neuroanatomical label to a given coordinate in the human brain. It is developed by a French research group based in
Caen, and it is described further in the following
scientific article: The computer program package is dependent upon the
Matlab and
SPM programs. The AAL digital human brain atlas is also available independent from the AAL computer program, e.g., in the MRIcro program.
