Anästhetikum
Ein Anästhetikum - Mz.: Anästhetika - ist ein Medikament, das zur reversiblen Verminderung oder Ausschaltung der Schmerzempfindung eingesetzt wird. Wird die Schmerzempfindung örtlich begrenzt herabgesetzt, spricht man von einer Lokalanästhesie, die durch ein Lokalanästhetikum bewirkt wird. Eine allgemeine Ausschaltung der Schmerzempfindung wird meistens im Rahmen einer Narkose herbeigeführt.
