Amphion

There are several characters named Amphion in Greek mythology:Amphion, son of Zeus and Antiope, and twin brother of Zethus (see Amphion and Zethus). Together they are famous for building Thebes. Amphion married Niobe, and killed himself after the loss of his wife and children (the Niobids) at the hands of Apollo and Artemis. One of his surviving children was the daughter now renamed as Chloris. However, other accounts (including Homer, in the Odyssey) claim that Chloris was a daughter of another Amphion, ruler of Minyan Orchomenus (see below).Amphion, son of Iasus and Persephone (a mortal woman, not the wife of Hades). This Amphion is an obscure character, said to be a king of the Minyans of Orchomenus, in Boeotia.Amphion, son of Hyperasius and Hypso, an Argonaut.

Dans la mythologie grecque, Amphion est le fils de Zeus et d'Antiope et le frère jumeau de Zéthos. Tous deux, sur l'ordre de leur oncle Lycos, roi de Thèbes, sont abandonnés enfants sur le mont Cithéron et recueillis par des bergers.

Amfion i Zetos - w mitologii greckiej bliźniacy, synowie Zeusa i tebańskiej królewny Antiopy. W dzieciństwie zostali skrzywdzeni przez stryja Likosa, po czym byli wychowywani przez pasterzy w górach. Gdy dorośli, stanęli w obronie Antiopy, dręczonej przez żonę Likosa, Dirke i uwięzionej przez stryja, i pomścili jej krzywdę. Likosa zabili, a jego żonę przywiązali do rogów byka, który ją stratował (scenę tą przedstawia grupa rzeźbiarska Byk Farnezyjski, kopia rzymska dzieła Apolloniosa i Tauriskosa z Tralles z III w.).

Amphion (Oudgrieks: / Amphíôn) is in de Griekse mythologie de zoon van Zeus en Antiope, die een dochter van Nycteus van Thebe was. Hij had een tweelingbroer, Zethus genaamd (Ovidius, Metamorphosen VI 110, e.v.; Apollodorus, III 5 § 5.).
