American Mathematical Society

The American Mathematical Society (AMS) is an association of professional mathematicians dedicated to the interests of mathematical research and scholarship, which it does with various publications and conferences as well as annual monetary awards to mathematicians. The society is one of the four parts of the Joint Policy Board for Mathematics (JPBM) and a member of the Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences (CBMS).

L’American Mathematical Society (société américaine des mathématiques) est dédiée aux intérêts de la recherche et de l’éducation des mathématiques, ce qu’elle fait avec différentes publications et conférences comme les récompenses monétaires annuels des mathématiciens. Elle a été fondée en 1888, sur l’idée personnelle de Thomas Fiske qui avait été marqué par la société mathématique de Londres lors d’une visite. L’AMS est avocat du programme d’imprimerie TeX, en insistant que les contributions doivent être rédigés à l’aide de cet outil et a même produite sa propre version : AMS-TeX.

Die American Mathematical Society ist die Vereinigung der Mathematiker in der USA. Sie entspricht etwa der Deutschen Mathematiker-Vereinigung (DMV) in Deutschland. Sie ist 1888 gegründet worden zwecks Förderung der mathematischen Ausbildung und Forschung. Sie hat etwa 28.000 Personen und 550 Institutionen als Mitglieder.

Amerykańskie Towarzystwo Matematyczne (ang. American Mathematical Society lub AMS) - towarzystwo skupiające matematyków w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Jego misją jest promowanie rozwoju badań matematycznych. Towarzystwo wydaje publikacje naukowe, organizuje konferencje (regionalne, krajowe i międzynarodowe we współpracy z innymi organizacjami), przyznaje stypendia i nagrody za wyniki naukowe.Towarzystwo zostało założone w 1888 jako Nowojorskie Towarzystwo Matematyczne. W lipcu 1894 przekształciło sie w towarzystwo krajowe z obecną nazwą. Głowna siedziba została przeniesiona z Nowego Jorku do Providence w stanie Rhode Island.

La American Mathematical Society (AMS) è un'associazione che si dedica ai problemi della ricerca matematica e all'insegnamento di questa disciplina. Essa opera curando varie pubblicazioni, organizzando conferenze e conferendo premi ai matematici. È stata fondata nel 1888, principalmente per opera di Thomas Fiske, il quale nel corso di una visita all'Inghilterra, era rimasto impressionato del funzionamento della London Mathematical Society.
