American Idol

American Idol is an annual American televised singing competition, which began its first season on June 11, 2002. Part of the Idol franchise, it originated from the British reality program Pop Idol.The program seeks to discover the best young singer in the country, through a series of nationwide auditions. The outcomes of the latter stages of this competition are determined by public voting by phone. The format features three judges who critique the contestants' performances in order to facilitate the voting: record producer and bass player Randy Jackson; former pop star Paula Abdul; and music executive Simon Cowell. The show is hosted by former children's game show emcee and television personality Ryan Seacrest; comedian Brian Dunkleman cohosted with Seacrest in season one.

American Idol: The Search for a Superstar, (ce qui signifie Idole américaine: À la recherche d'une super-star) connue plus familièrement sous le titre American Idol, est une émission télévisée américaine dont le premier épisode a été diffusé en juin 2002. American Idol ist eine US-amerikanische Fernsehsendung und wird auf dem Network Fox ausgestrahlt. Es ist die amerikanische Variante der britischen Show Pop Idol (in Deutschland adaptiert als Deutschland sucht den Superstar). American Idol ist das derzeit erfolgreichste Fernseh-Format der USA und erreichte während der letzten Staffel durchschnittlich 31 Millionen Zuschauer. Im Gegensatz zur deutschen Variante DSDS erlangten mehrere Teilnehmer der Show weltweite Erfolge u. a. Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken und Jennifer Hudson. 60 Singles der Teilnehmer erreichten hohe Platzierungen in den Billboard Hot 100.

American Idol: The Search for a Superstar, noto universalmente come American Idol e negli States solo come Idol, è un reality show americano che consiste in una competizione canora fra concorrenti scelti per mezzo di audizioni e selezioni effettuate da tre giudici e, solamente nelle fasi finali, dal pubblico, tramite televoto. Het programma heeft al een Grammy Award-winnaar opgeleverd, namelijk Kelly Clarkson.Het programma wordt door Ryan Seacrest gepresenteerd. De jury bestaat uit Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul en Randy Jackson.Het programma wordt uitgezonden door de tv-zender FOX, maar is ook buiten de VS te zien.Door het succes van het programma kwam er de film From Justin to Kelly en het kinder-talentenjacht American Juniors, die in 2003 uitgezonden werd.
