Amazing Stories

This article is about the magazine. For the television show, see Amazing Stories (TV series) Amazing Stories magazine, sometimes retitled Amazing Science Fiction, was first published in April 1926 in New York City, thereby becoming the first magazine devoted exclusively to publishing stories in the genre presently known as science fiction (SF). It is regarded as the world's first science fiction magazine. After the April 2005 issue, the magazine went on "hiatus" and as of March 2006, the magazine's current publisher announced that it would no longer be published.

Pulp Magazine, oft einfach nur "Pulps" genannt, waren Magazine mit Geschichten aus verschiedenen Genres, die im Amerika der 1930er bis 1950er populär waren. Das erste Pulp war Frank Munseys Argosy 1896. Die meisten der wenigen noch produzierten Pulps fallen heute in die Genres Science-Fiction und Mystery.

Amazing Stories, pierwsze w historii pismo poświęcone fantastyce naukowej, założone w Nowym Jorku w 1926 r. (pierwszy numer wyszedł w kwietniu) przez Hugo Gernsbacka. Pismo zaliczało się do tzw. "pulp magazines", których nazwa pochodziła od marnej jakości papieru, na którym były drukowane. Amazing Stories nieco różniło się od typowych pulp - miało rozmiary ok. 220x280 mm, przycięte strony i wyższą cenę. Ukazywało się do czasów współczesnych, wydawane przez licznych wydawców i pod różnymi wariantami podstawowego tytułu.
