For other uses see Alope (disambiguation)In Greek mythology (Hyginus, Fabulae 187), Alopê was a mortal woman, daughter of Cercyon.  Poseidon had sex with Alope in the guise of kingfisher, his granddaughter through Cercyon, begetting Hippothoon. Cercyon had his daughter buried alive but Poseidon turned her into the spring, Alope, near Eleusis.
