Allon is a communal settlement and Israeli settlement in the Matte Binyamin Regional Council of the central West Bank. Located to the east of Jerusalem near Ma'ale Adumim, and along the edge of the Judean desert, the village has a diverse religiously observant and secular population.Founded in 1990 by a number of area residents under the aegis of the Amana settlement organisation, it was originally considered to be part of the nearby Kfar Adumim so as to minimise opposition in an atmosphere in which the question of settlement was becoming increasingly controversial. Children study in a mixed secular/observant public-religious school in nearby Kfar Adumim, and attend highschool in Jerusalem.

אלון הוא התנחלות במתכונת של יישוב קהילתי משותף לדתיים וחילונים, הנמצא באזור מדבר יהודה, על הגדה הדרומית של נחל פרת (ואדי קלט), בגובה של 250 מטרים מעל פני הים. אלון שוכן סמוך לעירמעלה אדומים ומשתייך למועצה אזורית מטה בנימין. ביישוב מתגוררות כ-130 משפחות. מבחינה סטטיסטית, נחשב היישוב כשכונה של כפר אדומים.היישוב הוקם באפריל 1990 באתר שנקרא "גבעה 256" על ידי קבוצת תושבים ובסיוע ארגון אמנה ונקרא על שמו של יגאל אלון. בראשיתו נחשב לשכונת הרחבה של כפר אדומים, במטרה למנוע מחלוקת לגבי הקמת יישובים חדשים ביש"ע. לאחר זמן מה נותקה השכונה מכפר אדומים ומנוהלת על ידי אגודה שיתופית קהילתית, עם מזכירות עצמאית.
