En général, les alliés sont les gens ou les groupes qui ont rejoint une alliance. Un traité formel n'est pas exigé pour être perçu en tant qu'allié co-belligérant, c'est-à-dire combattant aux côtés de quelqu'un.

Der Begriff Alliierte stammt aus dem Lateinischen und bedeutet Verbündete, die eine Allianz geschlossen haben. Das muss kein formeller Vertrag sein, ein koordinierter Kampf gegen einen gemeinsamen Gegner reicht aus.Im engeren Sinne werden unter Alliierten die im Zweiten Weltkrieg gegen die Achsenmächte (Deutschland, Italien, Japan) verbündeten Großmächte verstanden. Auch die im Ersten Weltkrieg gegen die Mittelmächte verbündeten Staaten werden teilweise als Alliierte bezeichnet, der weitaus üblichere Ausdruck hierfür ist jedoch die Entente.

Alianci (fr. alliance – sojusz) – termin oznaczający sojuszników, sprzymierzeńców.Pojawił się podczas I wojny światowej, jako określenie Wielkiej Brytanii, Francji, USA, Rosji, Włoch i kilku mniejszych państw, będących wszystkie przeciwnikami państw centralnych (wobec państw alianckich częściej stosowany jest termin państwa Ententy).Termin 'alianci' stosowany jest przede wszystkim do członków koalicji antyhitlerowskiej podczas II wojny światowej, choć dość często jest on tutaj ograniczany do państw zachodnich (Wielka Brytania z dominiami i USA oraz stworzone w tych krajach siły zbrojne Wolnej Francji, Polski i kilku mniejszych państw), które były objęte wspólnym dowództwem.

In generale, gli alleati sono persone o gruppi che hanno stretto un'alleanza e lavorano assieme per raggiungere un fine comune. Nell'utilizzo generale del termine, coloro i quali condividono un obbiettivo comune e il cui lavoro nel raggiungere tale obiettivo è complementare, possono essere considerati alleati anche quando non esiste un accordo esplicito tra le parti. Similarmente, quando il termine è usato nel contesto della guerra o della lotta armata, una formale alleanza militare non è necessaria perché si venga percepiti come un alleato — è sufficiente la cobelligeranza. In base a questo uso generale, gli alleati diventano tali non quando concludono un trattato di alleanza, ma quando vengono colpiti dalla guerra.
