The Alliance for Retired Americans (ARA) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization of retired trade union members affiliated with the AFL-CIO. The organization was originally known as the National Council for Senior Citizens, but changed its name in 2001.As of 2006, ARA had 3.2 million members and was active in 26 states.
