The Alhambra Decree (also known as the Edict of Expulsion) was an edict issued on 31 March 1492 by the joint Catholic Monarchs of Spain (Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon) ordering the expulsion of Jews from the Kingdoms of Castile and Aragon (not from the Kingdom of Navarre) and its territories and possessions by 31 July of that year.

Im Alhambra-Edikt, 1492 erlassen durch die Katholischen Könige Isabella von Kastilien und Ferdinand II. von Aragon, wurde die Vertreibung der Juden aus allen Territorien der spanischen Krone zum 31. Juli des Jahres angeordnet, sofern sie bis dahin nicht zum Christentum übergetreten waren.

Le décret d'Alhambra, connu pour avoir causé l'expulsion des Juifs d'Espagne, fut publié le par les Rois Catholiques d'Espagne, suite au triomphe sur les Maures, et la chute de Grenade.

Начиная с XIV века в Испании набирают силу антисемитские настроения, евреев преследуют, принуждают креститься. Некоторые из крестившихся продолжали тайно соблюдать еврейские законы. В 1492 году испанская королевская чета приказала всем евреям Испании в трехмесячный срок покинуть пределы страны, оставшиеся были поставлены перед выбором — казнь или крещение. Евреи бежали либо в Португалию (где через 30 лет история повторилась), оттуда — на север Европы, либо — в Италию, Турцию, страны Северной Африки. Для евреев изгнание стало чудовищной национальной катастрофой.
