Algonquin Park

Algonquin Provincial Park is a provincial park located between Georgian Bay and the Ottawa River in central Ontario. It is the first provincial park in Canada having been established in 1893. It covers about 7,725 square kilometres. Its size, combined with its proximity to the major urban centres of Toronto and Ottawa make it one of the most popular parks in the province. Highway 60 runs through the south of the park, while the Trans-Canada Highway bypasses it to the north. Over 2400 lakes and 1200 kilometres of streams and rivers are located within the park, including Canoe Lake and the Petawawa, Nipissing, Amable du Fond, Madawaska, and Tim rivers. These were formed by the retreat of the glaciers during the last ice age.

Der Algonquin Provincial Park ist ein 7725 km² großer Naturpark in der kanadischen Provinz Ontario. Der Park hat nicht nur Laub-und Nadelwälder, sondern Sümpfe und hochragende Felswände und über 2456 Seen zu bieten. Er befindet sich nördlich des Ontariosees in einem Dreieck zwischen den Städten Sudbury im Westen, Toronto im Süden und Ottawa im Osten. Er ist von Toronto ca. 200 km Luftlinie entfernt. Der Park ist der älteste Naturpark Ontarios.

Algonquin Provincial Park is een beschermd natuurgebied in de provincie Ontario in Canada.Algonquin is met 7725 vierkante kilometer qua grootte het derde park in Ontario. Door deze grootte en door de relatief korte afstand tot de grote steden Toronto en Ottawa is Algonquin één van de meest populaire parken in de provincie. In het zuiden van het park loopt Highway 60. Als je daar rijdt, is de kans zeer groot dat je één of meerdere elanden tegen komt. Daarnaast lopen er ook onder andere beren, wolven, verschillende soorten herten en bevers rond. Rondom Highway 60 zijn meerdere wandelroutes uitgezet door de natuur. Behalve via Highway 60 is Algonquin nog te bereiken via de oostkant (Pembroke) en via de noordkant. Als je de natuur in wilt, is de boot de beste optie. Boten of kano's zijn te huur bij De Portage Store. Deze winkel ligt aan Canoe Lake en verhuurt heel veel dingen die met kanoën te maken hebben. Ook kan je vanaf hier tochten maken over de meren van Algonquin Park.

Создан в 1893 г. Парк находится на выходе кристаллического фундамента Алгонкинского свода. Рельеф носит следы действия ледников. Фауна парка насчитывает 45 видов млекопитающих, 262 вида птиц, 53 вида рыб, 31 вид пресмыкающихся и земноводных. Здесь произрастает более тысячи видов растений, в том числе 34 вида деревьев. Парк не имеет штата исследователей. По территории парка проходят туристические маршруты, имеются обустроенные стоянки, действует прокат каноэ.
