Alexandria ( , Coptic: , Alexándria, Koine Greek: Ἀλεξάνδρεια ἡ κατ' Αἴγυπτον "Alexandria in Egypt", Egyptian Arabic: اسكندريه ) is the second-largest city of Egypt, with a population of 4.1 million, extending about along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in the north central part of the country; it is also the largest city lying directly on the Mediterranean coast. It is Egypt's largest seaport, serving approximately 80% of Egypt's imports and exports. Alexandria is also an important tourist resort. It is home to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (the new Library of Alexandria). It is an important industrial centre because of its natural gas and oil pipelines from Suez.

Alexander romance is any of several collections of legends concerning the mythical exploits of Alexander the Great. The earliest version is in Greek, dating to the 3rd century. Several late manuscripts attribute the work to Alexander's court historian Callisthenes, but the historical figure died before Alexander and could not have written a full account of his life. The unknown author is still sometimes called Pseudo-Callisthenes.

Alexandria oder Alexandrien (griechisch Αλεξάνδρεια, Alexándreia, nach Alexander dem Großen; arabisiert , al-Iskandariyya) ist eine Hafenstadt an der Mittelmeerküste Ägyptens und Hauptstadt des gleichnamigen Gouvernements.

Als Alexanderroman werden die romanhaften antiken und mittelalterlichen Biographien Alexanders des Großen (356–323 v. Chr.) bezeichnet.

Alexandrie, ville d’Égypte comptant aujourd'hui près de quatre millions d'habitants, fut fondée en -331 par Alexandre le Grand. Elle devint dans l’Antiquité le premier port d’Égypte, la capitale du pays, et un des plus grands foyers culturels de la Méditerranée centré sur la fameuse Bibliothèque qui fonda sa notoriété.

Le Roman d’Alexandre est un récit du pseudo-Callisthène. Le texte originel du trouvait ses fondements dans la culture païenne, octroyant à une figure historique des exploits de héros babyloniens. Le Roman d’Alexandre connut un large succès au Moyen Âge avec plusieurs versions et traductions, notamment de Julius Valerius Alexander Polemius en latin ( A. D.), Léon de Naples (milieu ) ou encore Alexandre de Bernay dit Alexandre de Paris en dialecte français .

Alexandria (arabiska الإسكندرية, transkriberat Al-Iskandarīyah, grekiska Αλεξάνδρεια, Alexándreia) är Egyptens näst största stad och en viktig hamnstad och industristad  men även en betydande turiststad och badort.
