Album

An album or record album is a collection of related audio or music tracks distributed to the public. The most common way is through commercial distribution, although smaller artists will often distribute directly to the public by selling their albums at live concerts or on their websites. The tracks on an album may be related by subject, mood or sound, and may even be designed to express a unified message or tell a story (as in the case of a concept album), or the tracks may simply represent a convenient grouping of recordings made at one time or place, or recordings whose commercial rights are controlled by a single record label. A group of audio tracks is considered to be an album if it has a generally consistent track list (often with minor differences or bonus tracks in different territories, or if the album is "reissued" at different times). An album may be released in a single format, such as on compact disc, or in multiple media formats, ranging from physical ones such as CDs, DVD audio, cassettes and vinyl records, to digital ones such as MP3 and AAC files or streaming audio.

With the release of their debut album, Captain of Industry developed a strong regional following throughout Ohio, culminating in a packed to capacity performance at the 2004 Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati. Following rave reviews in the Cincinnati and Dayton press, Captain signed to Do Tell Records, an independent label with a strong catalog of artists including The Slackers, Enon, Pulley, and Skeleton Key.

( ) is the third full-length album from Icelandic band Sigur Rós, first released in October 2002. It comprises eight untitled tracks, divided into two parts: the first four tracks are more light and optimistic, while the latter four are bleaker and more melancholic. The two halves are divided by a 36-second silence, and the album opens and closes with a click of distortion.

Un album de musique est un disque vinyle ou un CD présenté dans une pochette et regroupant un ensemble de titres d'un chanteur, d'un groupe ou d'un musicien ou un ou plusieurs mix(s) d'un ou plusieurs DJ(s). Les albums consacrés à un genre musical et contenant plusieurs titres de différents interprètes sont appelés compilations, tandis que les albums qui rassemblent plusieurs morceaux d'un même artiste enregistrés à l'origine sur différents disques sont appelés Best of ou Greatest Hits.

† (Cross) est le premier album du groupe de musique électronique français Justice, sorti en France le 11 juin 2007. L'album contient cinq titres sortis auparavant : Waters of Nazareth, D.A.N.C.E., Phantom, Let There Be Light et One Minute To Midnight. Au moment de sa sortie, le groupe a mis a disposition l'album sur MySpace, où il fut écoutable intégralement en streaming.

In der Musikindustrie wird unter einem Album ein Tonträger verstanden, auf dem, im Gegensatz zu einer Single, mehrere Stücke eines Komponisten, eines Interpreten oder einer Musikgruppe (siehe B-Seite) bzw. auch zu einem Thema zusammengestellt sind. Entsprechend den Richtlinien der deutschen Musik-Charts gilt eine Schallplatte als ein Album, wenn sie entweder mindestens fünf Stücke enthält oder eine Spielzeit von mehr als 23 Minuten hat. Remixe zählen dabei nicht im Sinne der Definition. Ein Zwischending zwischen Album und Single bildet die EP.

( ) – czwarty album wydany przez islandzką grupę Sigur Rós. Krążek został wydany w roku 2002 (zob. 2002 w muzyce). Nie ma on oficjalnego tytułu i zawiera osiem oficjalnie niezatytułowanych utworów. Płyta podzielona jest na dwie części – pierwsze cztery utwory są bardziej lekkie i optymistyczne, zaś ostatnie cztery raczej melancholijne. Dwie połowy albumu oddzielone są trzydziestosześciosekundową przerwą.

Album – wydawnictwo muzyczne zawierające nagrania muzyczne na płycie długogrającej longplay (LP) lub dysku kompaktowym (CD). Dawniej nazywane po prostu płytami lub longplejami, zaczęto określać tą nazwą gdy okładki płyt stały się bardziej wyrafinowane graficznie i zawierały cztery, a niekiedy więcej stron wypełnionych grafiką, zdjęciami, tekstami piosenek itp. Z czasem nazwa album została rozciągnięta na wszystkie wydawnictwa muzyczne zawierające nagrania.
