Another player to come out of Milan’s youth system is Demetrio Albertini. Managing only 2 matches in two years with the club his was loaned to Padova to gain experience in Novemeber 1990 where he played 28 games scoring 5 goals. On his return Milan’s management were convinced of his enormous talent and he gained a regular place taking over Milan’s central midfield position. Although still young, Albertini even managed to clinch a regular place with the Italian national team where he made his debut in match against Cyprus in 1991. His vision of play and talent have kept him in the national team and has lately even been promoted to captain in the absence of Paolo Maldini. Although still 27 his trophy rack is impressive. One can add that with the two World Cups and also two European championships played, Albertini is one of the most experienced players in our line up.
