Albert Pahimi Padacké is a politician in
Chad. He is currently
Minister of Justice.During the 1990s, Padacké was Minister of Finance and later Minister of Commerce until being dismissed by President
Idriss Déby in November 1997 for being absent from his work; Déby unexpectedly visited government buildings and dismissed Padacké, along with two other ministers, when he found that they were not present. Padacké later became Secretary of State for Finances in February 2001, then became Minister of Mines, Energy, and Oil in April 2001. In August 2001 he became Minister without Portfolio. Later, he was Minister of
Agriculture from August 2005 to March 2007, and since March 2007 he has been Minister of Justice. He was the presidential candidate of the
National Rally for Democracy in Chad in the
May 2006 presidential election, in which he finished in third place with 7.82% of the vote. On
May 29, he congratulated Déby on winning the election. However, the main opposition parties did not participate in the election, claiming it to be fraudulent.
