Alastair Reynolds

Alastair Reynolds (born in 1966 in Barry, South Wales) is a Welsh science fiction author. He specialises in dark hard science fiction and space opera. He spent his early years in Cornwall, moved back to Wales before going to Newcastle, where he read Physics and Astronomy. Afterwards, he earned a PhD from St Andrews, Scotland. In 1991, he moved to Noordwijk in the Netherlands where he met his wife Josette (who is from France). There, he worked for the European Space Research and Technology Centre, part of the European Space Agency, until 2004 when he left to pursue writing full time.

Alastair Reynolds - pisarz gatunku fantastyki naukowej urodzony w Walii w 1966.Jest jest doktorem astronomii. Przez wiele lat pracował w Europejskim Ośrodku Badań Kosmicznych w Holandii jako astrofizyk. Jego dorobek pisarski jest połączeniem solidnej wiedzy astronomicznej i talentu pisarskiego. Zalicza się go do nurtu hard SF. Autor bardzo ceni sobie twórczość J. Carrolla i S. Kinga, i te właśnie fascynacje kryminałem i powieścią sensacyjną dają się zauważyć w twórczości Reynoldsa. Jest laureatem nagrody Brytyjskiego Stowarzyszenia Pisarzy SF za najlepszą powieść 2001 roku Chasm City.

Alastair Reynolds (Barry (Wales), 1 april 1966) is een Britse sciencefiction schrijver. Hij verhuisde in 1991 naar Nederland en leeft in Noordwijk met zijn vrouw Josette. Sinds maart 2004 legt hij zich volledig toe op zijn auteurschap.Reynolds leefde in Cornwall gedurende zijn jeugd, verhuisde terug naar Wales en studeerde natuurkunde en astronomie aan de universiteit van Newcastle upon Tyne Hij promoveerde in de astronomie in St. Andrews, Schotland. Tot 2004 werkte hij voor de Europese Ruimtevaartorganisatie.Reynolds schrijft voornamelijk harde sciencefiction en space opera. Zijn roman Chasm City won de Britse BSFA Award in 2001.
