Akkalkot (अक्कलकोट),(ಅಕ್ಕಲಕೂಟೆ) town lies at the border between Maharashtra and Karnataka.It lies in the district of Solapur and is the administrative center of the taluka of Akkalkot, a sub-division of that district.The railway station of Akkalkot Road is situated on Solapur Gulbarga section on Central railway and is about 11 km from Akkalkot city.
