Akan people
The Akan people are an ethnic group found predominantly in Ghana and the Ivory Coast. Akans are the majority in both of these countries and overall have a population of 40 million people. The Akan speak Kwa languages.

Akan są grupą językową zachodniej Afryki, składającą się plemion Akuapem, Aszanti, Akyem, Baoulé, Brong, Fante i Nzema zaludniających Ghanę i Wybrzeże Kości Słoniowej. Od XV do XIX wieku ludzie Akan zdominowali kopalnie i handel złota w regionie. Gałęziami Akan są Abron i Afutu.
