Ajigawa stable

Ajigawa stable (Japanese: 安治川部屋, Ajigawa-beya) is a stable of sumo wrestlers, one of the Tatsunami group of stables.The stable was established in 1979 by former sekiwake Mutsuarashi Yukio. It absorbed Asahiyama stable in 1990 on the retirement of Asahiyama-oyakata. In 1993 former yokozuna Asahifuji Seiya acceded to the Ajigawa name and took over running of the stable, due to the poor health of the incumbent.Most Ajigawa wrestlers' names start with the kanji 安 (pronounced a, meaning peaceful).
