Aitolos
In
Greek mythology Aitolos (Αίτολος) (also Aetolus) may refer to:Aitolos, the son of
Endymion who reigned as King of
Elis. His mother was either a
Iphianassa Asterodia,
Chromia, Hyperippe, or a
naiad. He killed
Apis, the ruler of
Apia. Aitolos ruled
Aetolia, which took its name from him. He married
Pronoe and had two sons,
Pleuron and
Calydon (the names of two of cities of Aetolia).Aitolos, father of
Palaemon.Aitolos, son of
Oxylus and
Pieria. He died before his parents and was buried by them in a tomb in
Olympia's gate, because an oracle forbade any burial either within or outside the city.

Paieon, Aitolos und
Epeios austragen. Epeios ging als Sieger aus diesem Rennen hervor.Infolge eines selbstverschuldeten Unfalles mit tödlichem Ausgang wurde Aitolos aus Elis verbannt. Er ging nach Kuretien und heiratete dort
Pronoe. Mit dieser hatte er die beiden Söhne
Pleuron und
Kalydon.

Aitólosz,
görög mitológiai alak, éliszi királyfi,
Endümión és Aszterodeia fia. Testvére,
Epeiosz után o lett Élisz uralkodója. Egy kocsiverszenyen, amelyet
Arkasz fia, Azan halálakor rendeztek, véletlenül megölte
Apiszt, ezért annak fiai (vagy Szalmóneusz) számuzték. A Korinthoszi-öböl túlsó partján keresett menedéket, az
Akhelóosz folyó torkolatánál. Itt
Apollón fia, Dórosz és két fivére fogadta be, Aitólosz azonban késobb mindhármukat megölte, eluzte a tartomány népét, a kurészeket, s megalapította Aitóliát.
