Aither

Aether (also Æther, Greek: ᾿Αιθήρ), in Greek mythology, is one of the Protogenoi (first-born). He is the personification of the "upper sky," space, and heaven, and the elemental god of the "Bright, Glowing, Upper Air." He is the pure upper air that the gods breathe, as opposed to regular air (᾿Αήρ, aer), the gloomy lower air of the Earth, which mortals breathe.

Dans la mythologie grecque, Éther ou Æther (en grec ancien  / Aithếr, de / aíthô, « brûler ») est un dieu primordial. Selon Hésiode, il est le fils d'Érèbe (les Ténèbres) et de Nyx (la Nuit), frère d'Héméra (le Jour), mais la tradition orphique en fait le fils de Chronos (le Temps). Hygin, en revanche, lui donne, dans la préface de ses Fables, pour parents les Ténèbres ou l'Obscurité et le Chaos, pour frère l'Érèbe, pour sœur Nyx, pour sœur et épouse Héméra avec laquelle il engendre à son tour Gaïa (la Terre), Ouranos (le Ciel) et Thalassa (la Mer). Enfin, s'étant uni à sa fille Gaïa, il enfante les dieux originels généralement attribués à Ouranos ou à Nyx : Algos (la Douleur), la Colère, la Mendicité, l'Intempérance, Neikos (les Disputes), Léthé (l'Oubli), l'Inceste, Océan, Thémis, le Tartare, Pontos (le Flot), puis les principaux Titans Atlas, Hypérion, Polus, Cronos, Rhéa, Moneta (semi-équivalent latin de Mnémosyne) et Dioné - et pour finir les trois Érinyes.

Aither, Aithir oder Aether ist in der griechischen Mythologie die Personifikation des „oberen Himmels“, der Sohn von Erebos und Nyx.Er ist die Seele der Welt und alles Leben entspringt aus ihm; die reine „Luft“, die die Götter atmen und in der die Gestirne schweben. Im Gegensatz dazu atmen die Menschen „aër“. Nach den Erzählungen der Orphiker waren jedoch Nyx und Aither von Anfang an da: Sie – die Nacht – wurde vom Wind – dem Aither – befruchtet und legte das silberne Ei in den Schoß der Dunkelheit, aus dem Eros schlüpfte, der goldgeflügelte, zweigeschlechtliche, alles bewegende Gott.

Eter (gr. Ajthér, łac. Aether) - w mitologii greckiej syn Nocy (Nyks) i Erebu, symbolizował pierwszą materię wszechświata. Był to także wyższy krąg nieba (w odróżnieniu od niższego – aer), w którym zamieszkiwali bogowie z Zeusem na czele.

Etere (greco antico: ᾿Αιθήρ) è una figura della mitologia greca, uno degli dei Progenitori. Era la personalizzazione divinizzata dell'atmosfera intesa come cielo più puro. Si trattava dell'aria superiore che solo gli dei respiravano, in contrapposizione all'aria respirata dai mortali (in greco ᾿Αήρ).
