AirPort

AirPort is a local area wireless networking brand from Apple Inc. based on the IEEE 802.11b standard (also known as Wi-Fi) and certified as compatible with other 802.11b devices. A later family of products based on the  IEEE 802.11g specification is known as AirPort Extreme. The latest family of products is based on the draft-IEEE 802.11n specification and carries the same name.

AirPort est un système réseau local sans fil (WLAN) du fabricant informatique Apple basé sur le standard IEEE 802.11b appartenant au groupe de normes IEEE 802.11 (également connue sous le nom de Wi-Fi) et certifié comme compatible avec d'autres dispositifs 802.11b. Une famille postérieure des produits basée sur les spécifications IEEE 802.11g sont connues sous le nom de AirPort Express, offrant une vitesse de 54 mégabits par seconde et une interopérabilité avec les produits plus anciens (802.11b). La norme IEEE 802.11n apparaît chez Apple en 2006 sous le nom de AirPort Express et, contrairement à la plupart des autres fabriquants qui ne proposent cette norme que sur les modèles haut de gamme, l'intégrera à tous ses ordinateurs.

Mit Flughafen (engl. Airport) wird im deutschen Sprachraum ein Start- und Landeplatz nebst Infrastruktur bezeichnet, auf dem normalerweise regelmäßiger kommerzieller Flugverkehr stattfindet. In architettura, in urbanistica ed in aeronautica, un aeroporto è una infrastruttura attrezzata per il decollo e l'atterraggio di aeromobili, per il transito dei relativi passeggeri e del loro bagaglio, per l'hangaraggio ed il rifornimento dei velivoli.Normalmente i grandi aeroporti civili internazionali sono situati nelle vicinanze di una grande città e ad essa collegati da  strade o autostrade. Il loro posizionamento, soprattutto nei tempi attuali, è molto complesso anche per gli ostacoli posti dalla popolazione alla loro costruzione; nessuno infatti è ben disposto ad accettare vicino alla propria casa una installazione che porta con sé delle problematiche accentuate di inquinamento dell'aria e di rumore. Spesso la popolazione residente nelle adiacenze degli aeroporti si costituisce in Comitati Antirumore, con lo scopo di limitare l'attività degli impianti e/o la costruzione di apposite barriere che limitino l'impatto ambientale.

AirPort è il nome dato da Apple Computer alla sua implementazione della tecnologia wireless Wi-Fi per i computer Apple Macintosh. Essa originariamente si basava sul protocollo IEEE 802.11b, ma gli ultimi dispositivi utilizzano i protocolli IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11g ed IEEE 802.11n evoluzioni compatibili con l'originale ma fino a 40 volte più veloci. Tale protocollo consente una copertura fino a 100 metri (in campo aperto), una velocità di trasferimento di 54 Mb/s e supporta una cifratura a 128 bit per consentire comunicazioni protette da attacchi esterni.
