Aḥmad ( also Ahmed), is the transliteration of an Arabic given name that comes from the Arabic Triconsonantal root of H-M-D ("praise"), meaning "highly praised" implying "one who constantly thanks God". One of the Islamic prophet Muhammad's many names is Ahmad.
