Agenesis of the corpus callosum

Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (ACC) is a rare birth defect (congenital disorder) in which there is a complete or partial absence of the corpus callosum. Agenesis of the corpus callosum occurs when the corpus callosum, the band of tissue connecting the two hemispheres of the brain, does not develop typically in utero. In addition to agenesis of the corpus callosum, other callosal disorders include hypogenesis (partial formation), dysgenesis (malformation) of the corpus callosum, and hypoplasia (underdevelopment) of the corpus callosum. [1]

L’agénésie du corps calleux est une pathologie se définissant par l’absence de corps calleux. Cette absence peut être totale ou partielle. Sa formation commence à partir de 5 semaines de vie in utero et se termine à 17 semaines. Cette absence peut être soit isolée, soit associée à d’autres pathologies.

Die Corpus-callosum-Agenesie (Balkenagenesie) ist eine angeborene Fehlbildung des Gehirns, die dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass die Verbindung zwischen der rechten und linken Hirnhälfte, das Corpus callosum, fehlt oder stark unterentwickelt ist. Bei einer partiellen Corpus-callosum-Agenesie fehlt nur ein Teil des Balkens. Wurde der Balken hingegen operativ durchtrennt, so handelt es sich nicht um eine Corpus-callosum-Agenesie, sondern um Split Brain.

Agenezja ciała modzelowatego (łac. agenesis corporis callosi, ang. agenesis of corpus callosum, ACC) –  wada wrodzona przodomózgowia, polegająca na różnego stopnia niedorozwoju spoidła wielkiego mózgu (ciała modzelowatego). Wada ta wykazuje dużą różnorodność, od zwykłego braku tej struktury mózgu po częściowy brak (zachowanie przedniej części przy braku tylnej).
