Aerial Photography

Aerial photography is the taking of photographs of the ground while not supported by a ground-based structure. Cameras may be hand held or mounted, and photographs may be taken by an active photographer, or triggered remotely or automatically. Vehicles for aerial photography include fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters; balloons, blimps and dirigibles; and rockets.  kites can also be made into platforms, as can skydivers.

Als Luftbildfotografie (auch Luftfotografie oder Aerofotografie, engl. aerial photography) wird ein fotografisches Genre bezeichnet, bei dem fotografische Abbildungen des Geländes aus der Vogelperspektive heraus angefertigt werden; man spricht dann von Luftbildern oder Luftaufnahmen. Die Branche, die sich mit dem Anfertigen von Luftbildern beschäftigt, wird auch als Luftbildwesen bezeichnet.

Aerofotografia (fotografia lotnicza) (zdjęcia lotnicze), dziedzina wykorzystywania fotografii, polegająca na wykonywaniu zdjęć z "lotu ptaka": balonów, samolotów, helikopterów, satelitów, spadochronów, latawców (fotografia latawcowa) oraz modeli zdalnie sterowanych. Wykorzystywana w meteorologii, fotogrametrii, rozpoznawaniu terenów (poszukiwaniu złóż mineralnych, szpiegowstwie). Jedna z najważniejszych technik używanych obecnie w archeologii. Dzięki niej można uzyskać informacje na temat stanowiska bez potrzeby wykonywania badań wykopaliskowych (archeologia lotnicza).

La fotografia aerea è uno strumento utile al rilevamento delle caratteristiche del terreno non facilmente percepibili al livello del suolo. È una tecnica che trova applicazione in numerosi campi, dalla cartografia all'archeologia.Le prime foto aeree furono realizzate in Francia dal pioniere della fotografia Nadar (Gaspard-Félix Tournachon, 1820-1910) nel 1858, a bordo di un aerostato.
