Aeolians

The Aeolians were one of the ancient Greek tribes. The name comes from the fact that they were considered to be descended from Aeolus (whose father Hellen was the mythological patriarch of all Hellenes).Originating in Thessaly, they moved their location when the Dorians were attacking the Achaeans and then abandoned most of the Mycenaean territories. The Aeolians took over some of the abandoned territory and built few cities on islands near Asia Minor. They began building these cities well after the Mycenaeans were defeated, and gave rise to the Aeolian dialect of the Greek language.

Die Aioler (auch Aiolier oder Äoler, gr. Aioleis) waren eine griechische Stammesgruppe, die vor der Einwanderung der Dorer (Dorische Wanderung) Teile Thessaliens und Boiotiens bewohnt haben sollen, dann zogen sie nach Kleinasien, wo sie den nördlichen Teil der Westküste sowie einige der nordägäischen Inseln besetzten.

Eolowie (Aioloi) greckie plemiona, które po 2000 p.n.e. zasiedliły środkową Grecję, posługujące się dialektem eolskim, spokrewnionym z dialektem arkado-cypryjskim (Achajowie). Eolowie, jak i inne plemiona indoeuropejskie, mówiące językiem greckim, przybyli z terenów Europy południowo-wschodniej. Eolowie osiedlili się w Beocji, Tessalii, Lokrydzie i Fokidzie, skąd zostali wyparci lub zdominowani przez Tessalów i Beotów, którzy dotarli na te obszary w trakcie inwazji Dorów ok. 1200 p.n.e.. Najazd Dorów zmusił wiele plemion do szukania nowych terytoriów. Około 1130 p.n.e. część Eolów pod wodzą Penthilosa, syna Orestesa, przez wybrzeże trackie dotarli do północno-zachodnich krain Azji Mniejszej i sąsiednich wysp: Lesbos i Tenedos. Inni Eolowie założyli miasto Kyme. Eolowie wraz z Jonami byli twórcami polis - miasta-państwa.

Gli Eoli furono la seconda delle tre popolazioni elleniche che nel II millennio a.C. invasero l'antica Grecia.Probabilmente, la realtà storica dell'invasione ellenica della Grecia fu raccontata attraverso il mito della titanomachia: i fratelli Ade, Poseidone e Zeus personificano Ioni, Eoli e Achei che soggiogano Crono e i suoi fratelli Titani, ossia i Pelasgi adoratori delle divinità titaniche.Il nome "eoli" deriva dal fatto che essi furono considerati i discendenti di Eolo, figlio di Elleno, il mitico patriarca degli Elleni.

Aiolerna var en av de tre antika grekiska stammarna som under perioden bebodde Aiolien  i nuvarande Turkiet. De härstammade från Thessalien men flyttade sedan Akajerna attackerats av Dorerna för att sedan överge de mykeniska territorerna. De tog sedan över en del av de övergivna områderna och byggde några städer i Mindre Asien, just efter att det mykeniska folket blivit besegrade.
