Autonomous cruise control system
Some modern vehicles have autonomous or adaptative cruise control (ACC) systems. The system also goes under the names of active cruise control (ACC) , adaptive cruise control (ACC) or intelligent cruise control (ICC). These systems use either a
radar or
laser setup to allow the vehicle to slow when approaching another vehicle and accelerate again to the preset speed when traffic allows. ACC technology is widely regarded as a key component of any future generations of
smart cars, as a form of
artificial intelligence that may usefully be employed as a
driving aid.

Regelung den Abstand zu einem vorausfahrenden Fahrzeug als zusätzliche Rückführ- und Stellgröße einbezieht.In der internationalen Automobilindustrie hat sich der englische Ausdruck Adaptive Cruise Control etabliert (auf deutsch: Adaptive Geschwindigkeitsregelung), abgekürzt ACC und kommt seit dem Jahr 1998 im PKW zum Einsatz, nachdem die Laufzeit einiger wichtiger Schutzrechte auf dem Gebiet der Sensordatenerfassung, die bis dahin von privaten Erfindern gehalten wurden, endete. Das System wird ebenfalls als Automatische Distanzregelung (ADR) bezeichnet, wobei sich noch weitere Bezeichnungen verbreiten können, da jeder Automobilhersteller einen eigenen Namen für sein System einführt und schützen lässt.

snelheid en volgafstand van het uitgeruste voertuig te regelen. Het is de opvolger van de klassieke
cruise control. Sommige auto's uit het duurdere marktsegment zijn reeds uitgerust met deze functionaliteit, zoals de Mercedes S-klasse. Het systeem wordt ook soms Adaptive cruise control (ACC) genoemd.
