Act of Congress

An Act of Congress is a statute enacted by the United States Government which legally must be specifically empowered by the United States Constitution. An Act of Congress does not create power, but merely legislates how the existing power of the Constitution is to be used. An act is passed by reaching a majority present in both houses of Congress, so over 50% of present senators need to support it, as well as over 50% of present members of the House of Representatives.

Une loi du Congrès, en anglais Act of Congress, est une loi ou une résolution adoptée par le Congrès des États-Unis et :soit acceptée par le président des États-Unis ;soit n’ayant pas fait l’objet d’un veto présidentiel dans les dix jours suivant sa réception (dimanches exclus), lorsque le Congrès est en session ;soit réexaminée par le Congrès après un veto présidentiel durant la session.

Ein Bundesgesetz (Englisch: Act of Congress) ist in den Vereinigten Staaten ein Gesetz, dass von beiden Kammern des Kongresses verabschiedet wurde und danachvom Präsidenten angenommen,vom Präsidenten für zehn Tage (ohne Sonntage zu zählen) nach Verabschiedung ignoriert wurde, während der Kongress tagte, odervom Kongress noch einmal nach einem präsidialen Veto verabschiedet wurde.
