Accusativus cum infinitivo

In grammar, accusative and infinitive is the name for a syntactic construction of Latin and Greek, also found in various forms in other languages such as English and Spanish. In this construction, the subject of a subordinate clause is put in the accusative case and the verb appears in the infinitive form. Information given in this form is considered to be in indirect speech, also called indirect discourse.

Accusativus cum infinitivo (acc.c.inf., A.C.I.) jest to charakterystyczny dla niektórych języków, zwłaszcza łaciny i greki klasycznej, równoważnik zdania dopełnieniowego lub podmiotowego; składa się on z wyrażenia rzeczownikowego w bierniku (łac. accusativus) oraz bezokolicznika (łac. infinitivus). W łacinie i grece konstrukcja ta powstała ze składni podwójnego biernika osoby i rzeczy, np. gr. - "uczę dziewczynę filozofii" rozwinęło się do - "uczę dziewczynę filozofować".

De Accusativus cum Infinitivo, een lijdend voorwerp met een infinitief, is een zeer populaire grammaticale constructie in het Latijn en het Grieks. Ook in het Engels komt een constructie voor die hierop lijkt. Dikwijls wordt de afkorting A.c.I. gebruikt.
