Accumulated Cyclone Energy

Accumulated cyclone energy (ACE) is a measure used by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to express the activity of Atlantic hurricane seasons. It uses an approximation of the energy used by a tropical system over its lifetime and is calculated every six-hour period. The ACE of a season is the sum of the ACEs for each storm and takes into account the number, strength, and duration of all the tropical storms in the season.

Die Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) ist ein von der National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration benutztes Maß, um die Aktivität von Hurrikansaisons auszudrücken. Es benutzt eine Schätzung der Energie, die ein Tropisches Komplex während seiner Lebzeiten benutzt und wird alle sechs Stunden berechnet. Die ACE einer Saison ist die Summe aller ACEs der Stürme und beinhaltet die Anzahl, Stärke und Dauer aller Tropischen Wirbelstürme der Saison.

De Accumulated Cyclone Energy, ACE ofwel de cummulatieve energie van een tropische cycloon is een maat om de activiteit van een tropische cycloon uit te drukken. Deze maat wordt gebruikt door het NOAA, Engels: National Oceanic and Atmosferic Administration. In deze maat komen ter bepaling van de activiteit van de storm zijn windkracht en levensduur tot uitdrukking. De ACE waarde van een seizoen is gelijk aan de ACE-waarden van alle stormen van dat seizoen tezamen.
