Humidity
Humidity is the amount of
water vapor in a sample of
air compared to the
maximum amount of water vapor the air can hold at any specific
temperature. Absolute humidity,
relative humidity and specific humidity are different ways to express the water content in a parcel of air. Relative humidity is the most frequently used of these expressions because of its importance in
weather forecasting. Relative humidity indicates the likelihood of
precipitation,
dew, or
fog. High relative humidity makes people feel hotter outside in the summer because it reduces the effectiveness of
sweating to cool the body by preventing the
evaporation of perspiration from the skin. This effect is calculated in a
heat index table. Warm water vapor has more
thermal energy than cool water vapor and therefore more of it evaporates into warm air than into cold air.

Erdatmosphäre oder in Räumen. Flüssiges Wasser (z. B. Regentropfen, Nebeltröpfchen) oder
Eis (z. B. Schneekristalle) werden der Luftfeuchtigkeit folglich nicht zugerechnet. Die Luftfeuchtigkeit ist eine wichtige Kenngröße für zahlreiche technische und meteorologische Vorgänge sowie für Gesundheit und Behaglichkeit.

temperatury powietrza. Im wyższa temperatura powietrza, tym więcej pary wodnej może się w nim znajdować.Przekroczenie maksymalnej wilgotności (np. w wyniku obniżenia temperatury powietrza) powoduje skraplanie się pary wodnej. Dlatego właśnie powstaje wieczorna (nocna)
rosa. Nagrzane w dzień powietrze może zawierać w sobie dużo pary wodnej, gdy przychodzi noc, powietrze ochładza się i spada przez to maksymalna ilość pary wodnej, która może być w nim zawarta. Nadmiar pary wodnej skrapla się, tworząc na powierzchni ziemi kropelki rosy (zobacz:

Luchtvochtigheid
Luchtvochtigheid is de hoeveelheid vocht in de
lucht.De hoeveelheid vocht kan uitgedrukt worden in een absolute hoeveelheid. Dat is de hoeveelheid water in een vastgestelde hoeveelheid lucht. De luchtvochtigheid wordt meestal uitgedrukt in de
relatieve vochtigheid, vaak relatieve luchtvochtigheid genoemd. Dit is het percentage van de maximale hoeveelheid waterdamp die de lucht bij de gegeven temperatuur en druk kan bevatten. Bij dalende temperatuur neemt het vermogen van de lucht, waterdamp te bevatten, af; bij dezelfde hoeveelheid waterdamp neemt de relatieve vochtigheid dan toe. Wordt deze groter dan 100%, dan treedt condensatie op (dauw en mist).
