Abengourou is one of the fifty-eight
departments of
Côte d'Ivoire, and also a city in that department, located near the
Ghanaian border at . The city is primarily populated by the Agni ethnic group, a branch of the
Akan people who migrated to the region from Ghana. The population of Abengourou was estimated to be 105,000 people in 2004.
