Saud Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad bin Saud (
Arabic: عبد العزيز ن محمد بن سعود ) was the second ruler of the
First Saudi State and son of
Muhammad bin Saud. He was also the son-in-law of
Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab. He ruled from
1765 until
1803.During his reign, the grasp of the
House of Saud extended into
Riyadh with Abdul Aziz's victory there and subsequent conquest. This victory allowed the House of Saud to rule all of
Nejd. Their military success and orthodox approach to religion won them great support in the area. Their standing was also boosted by Abdul Aziz's practice of holding open meetings where tribal elders could meet with him, allowing access to their ruler.

Muhammad bin Saud's son, Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad bin Saud, ruled from 1765 (1179 AH) through 1803 (1218 AH), retaining the association with Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab in the same capacity as his father and continuing to reform Islam in the peninsula. Abdul Aziz successfully captured the city of Riyadh in 1773 (1146 AH). The combination of a deeply held theological conviction and military success proved irresistible to many. As a result, the Saudi state began to spread rapidly and within fifteen years had extended its authority all over Nejd.

saudischen Dynastie.Abd al-Aziz ibn Muhammad al-Saud wurde schon zu Lebzeiten seines Vaters
Muhammad ibn Saud (1726-1765) zum Thronfolger des Hauses Saud bestimmt und von
Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab bestätigt. Nachdem er sich schon als Feldherr einen Namen gemacht hatte, konnte er 1765 ohne Probleme die Herrschaft übernehmen. Er setzte die militärische und friedliche Bekehrung der
Beduinenstämme für die Lehre der
Wahabiten weiter fort. Ein erster wichtiger Erfolg war die Unterwerfung des Emirats von
Riad, dass 27 Jahre erfolgreich Widerstand geleistet hatte (1773).
