Aarhus municipality, also commonly known by its Danish spelling Århus municipality, is a municipality (Danish, kommune) on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 469 km², and has a total population of 296,170 (2007). Its Lord Mayor is Nicolai Wammen, a member of the Socialdemokraterne (Social Democrats) political party.
