AVE

AVE, an acronym for (literally, "Spanish High Speed," but also a play on the word , meaning "bird" in Spanish), is a high speed train that can achieve speeds of up to 300 km/h (186 mph) on dedicated track. Unlike the rest of the Spanish broad-gauge network, the AVE uses standard gauge, permitting direct connections outside Spain in the future. All AVE trains are currently operated by RENFE, the Spanish state railway company, although it is possible that private companies may be allowed to run lines in the future.

L'AVE, acronyme de Alta Velocidad Española (grande vitesse espagnole), est le nom du réseau de trains à grande vitesse espagnol exploité par la Renfe, société nationale des chemins de fer espagnols. Ce réseau, qui autorise la circulation de trains à la vitesse maximum de 300 km/h, est isolé du reste du réseau espagnol par l'écartement des rails (voie normale, au standard UIC soit 1435 mm, au lieu de la voie large ibérique, 1668 mm) et par la tension d'alimentation (courant alternatif 25 kV, 50 Hz au lieu du courant continu en 3kV).

Der AVE [] (Alta Velocidad Española []) ist der Markenname der spanischen Eisenbahngesellschaft Renfe für das Hochgeschwindigkeitsnetz in Spanien.Ende 2007 hat das AVE-Netz eine Gesamtlänge von 1543 km. Das AVE-Netz soll bis zum Jahr 2010 auf eine Länge von 2230 km anwachsen. Damit wird das Land über das längste Hochgeschwindigkeitsnetz der Welt verfügen, vor  Japan (nach spanischen Angaben: 2090 km) und  Frankreich (1900 km).

AVE, Alta Velocidad Española (w języku hiszpańskim dosłownie "Wysoka Prędkość Hiszpańska" (jednocześnie ave oznacza po hiszpańsku ptak) - szybka kolej hiszpańska osiągająca prędkość do 300 km/h na specjalnych trasach. W odróżnieniu od pozostałych szerokotorowych pociągów hiszpańskich, pociągi AVE poruszają się po torach o rozstawie 1435 mm. W przyszłości ma to umożliwić połączenie sieci AVE z TGV. Pociągi są obecnie obsługiwane przez RENFE, hiszpańskie państwowe przedsiębiorstwo kolejowe.Pociągi AVE rozpoczęły kursowanie pomiędzy Madrytem a Sewillą 21 kwietnia 1992. Trasę o długości 471 km pokonują w 2,5 godziny.
