ART is a proprietary image file format used mostly by the America Online® (AOL) client software. The ART format (file extension ".art") holds a single still image that has been highly compressed. Originally, the compression was developed by the Johnson-Grace Company, which was then acquired by the AOL service. When an image is converted to the ART format, the image is analyzed and the software decides what compression technique would be best. Internet Explorer used to be able to display ART images but now is no longer capable.

L'art est une catégorie culturelle dont la portée varie largement selon les temps et les lieux. Dans l'usage courant elle englobe principalement les produits de ce qu'on a appelé les beaux arts: peinture, musique, poésie, danse, sculpture etc. La conception de l'art comme production d'objets qu'on s'accorde à trouver beaux, ou du moins stimulants pour les sens, remonte tout au plus au . De nos jours il n'y pas une idée de l'art qui soit universellement acceptée. Les produits et pratiques qui relèvent de l'art sont circonscrits selon les intérêts poursuivis par les individus et les institutions, en tenant compte d'une façon ou d'une autre des désignations antérieures.

ARTE (Association Relative à la Télévision Européenne, Associazione Relativa alla Televisione Europea) è un canale culturale franco-tedesco a vocazione europea di servizio pubblico, nato nel 1992 da un trattato fra lo Stato francese ed i Länder tedeschi. Ha succeduto La Sept (Société d'édition de programmes de télévision, Società di edizione di programmi di televisione), lanciata nel maggio 1989. Si tratta di un Gruppo Europeo di Interesse Economico (GEIE) i cui due membri sono, in parità : ARTE France (France 3, Stato francese, Radio France e INA) e ARTE Deutschland (ARD e ZDF).
