ARS++
ARS++ has been developed in
2002 for the book Undiluted Programming to demonstrate ARS based programming in a real world context. ARS++ is used in the book to implement an
A++ interpreter and an
XML Database System. Even the implementation of ARS++ in
C was used to demonstrate
ARS based programming.Principally the
programming language Scheme would have been perfectly alright to be used for these demonstration programs if Scheme would include primitives supporting
network programming, database programming plus a few others required in this context.The definition of the programming language Scheme does not include those primitives however, leaving this issue up to the implementors of the language. The consequence is that there exist many Scheme implementations, almost none of them covering all areas essential for real application programs. This is the historical background that gave birth to the development of ARS++.

Aars
Aars is a
Danish town in the
Himmerland area on
Jutland. Administratively, it is located in
Region Nordjylland in the
Vesthimmerland municipality. Aars is renowned for its collection of artwork by
Per Kirkeby, politician
Svend Auken, and successful business man Jes Lund Bengtsson. Before the Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007), Aars municipality was a municipality (
Danish,
kommune) in northern
Denmark, in the county of
North Jutland on the peninsula of
Jutland. The municipality covered an area of 223
km², and had a total population of 13,284 (2005). Its latest mayor was Knud V. Christensen, a member of the
Conservative People's Party (Det Konservative Folkeparti)
political party. On
January 1,
2007 Aars municipality ceased to exist and was merged with the former
Farsø,
Løgstør, and
Aalestrup municipalities to form the new Vesthimmerland municipality, with an area of 815
km² and a total population of 39,176 (2005).
