APIPA

Zeroconf or Zero Configuration Networking is a set of techniques that automatically create a usable IP network without configuration or special servers. This allows inexpert users to connect computers, networked printers, and other items together and expect them to work automatically. Without Zeroconf or something similar, a knowledgeable user must either set up special services, like DHCP and DNS, or set up each computer's network settings by hand, which is a tedious task, and is challenging for non-technical people.

Zeroconf (Zero Configuration Networking, auch Automatic Private IP Addressing, kurz APIPA, oder Auto-IP) ist eine Technik zur konfigurationsfreien Vernetzung von Geräten in lokalen Rechnernetzen.Die Motivation bei Zeroconf ist, einen Mechanismus zu realisieren, der ein möglichst einfaches Einrichten und den konfigurationslosen Betrieb von Netzen auf Basis des Internet Protocol (IP) ermöglicht. Eine einfache Anwendung wäre, zwei Notebooks mit einem Crossover-Kabel zu verbinden. Beide Geräte konfigurieren dann automatisch ihre Netzwerk-Schnittstellen, finden sich gegenseitig in diesem gerade etablierten Netzwerk und kommunizieren über IP. Dies geschieht ohne ein manuelles Eingreifen eines der Notebook-Benutzer oder durch das Verwenden von externer Netzwerkkonfiguration wie DHCP.

APIPA (ang. Automatic Private IP Addressing), AutoNet – usługa w systemie Windows odpowiedzialna za automatyczne przydzielanie adresu IP komputerowi, na którym system Windows jest zainstalowany. Usługa APIPA przydziela systemowi adres IP w przypadku, gdy komputer wyposażony jest w kartę sieciową, zostało zainstalowane oprogramowanie obsługi protokołów TCP/IP, karta sieciowa skonfigurowana jest do żądania przyznania adresu IP z serwera DHCP (ustawienie domyślne w Windows XP) a serwer DHCP w danym momencie jest nieosiągalny.

Zeroconf o Zero Configuration Networking è un protocollo standard dell'IETF per la configurazione dinamica dei nodi di una rete utilizzante il protocollo IP. Lo standard non è ancora definitivo, infatti non esiste ancora nessun documento RFC sul protocollo Zeroconf sebbene esistano già diverse implementazioni del protocollo che vengono utilizzate quotidianamente da moltissimi utenti essendo incluse nei sistemi operativi.
