ANSI

The American National Standards Institute or ANSI (IPA pronunciation: ) is a private nonprofit organization that oversees the development of voluntary consensus standards for products, services, processes, systems, and personnel in the United States. The organization also coordinates U.S. standards with international standards so that American products can be used worldwide. For example, standards make sure that people who own cameras can find the film they need for them anywhere around the globe.

L’American National Standards Institute (ANSI) est un organisme privé à but non-lucratif qui supervise le développement de normes pour les produits, les services, les procédés, les systèmes et les employés des États-Unis. Ces normes sont proposées à partir d’une démarche volontaire et consensuelle. L’organisation coordonne également la définition des normes américaines avec les normes internationales afin que les produits américains puissent être utilisés à l’étranger. Das American National Standards Institute (ANSI) ist die US-amerikanische Stelle zur Normung industrieller Verfahrensweisen. Es ist Mitglied in der Internationalen Organisation für Normung (ISO). Das deutsche Gegenstück ist das Deutsche Institut für Normung, e. V. (DIN).Obwohl die ANSI-Normen viele Bereiche abdecken, ist mit der alleinstehenden Abkürzung „ANSI“ in der Computertechnik eine bestimmte Gruppe von Zeichensätzen basierend auf ASCII gemeint; eine echte ANSI-Norm dafür existiert nicht, die Entwürfe des ANSI flossen aber in die Norm ISO-8859 ein. Bei Datenbanken kann die ANSI-SPARC-Architektur, auch Drei-Ebenen-Architektur, zum Einsatz kommen. Sie beschreibt die grundlegende Definition eines Datenbanksystems. Auch wird der Lichtstrom von digitalen Projektoren in ANSI-Lumen gemessen. Die Programmiersprache C wurde ebenfalls von ANSI genormt, und ist als ANSI C bekannt.

ANSI (ang. American National Standards Institute) – instytucja ustalająca normy techniczne obowiązujące w USA.W odróżnieniu od innych tego rodzaju instytucji w innych krajach, ANSI nie jest agencją rządową i nie posiada żadnych własnych "mocy prawnych" do egzekwowania ustalonych przez siebie norm. Jej działalność jest jednak silnie sprzężona z władzami USA, które zwykle honorują ustalenia ANSI i wiele norm ANSI jest włączanych do powszechnie obowiązujących aktów prawa; nie dzieje się to jednak automatycznie.

L' American National Standards Institute (Istituto Americano di Normalizzazione, più noto come ANSI) è un'organizzazione privata non a fini di lucro che produce standard industriali per gli Stati Uniti. È un membro dell'ISO e dell'IEC.L' ANSI fu fondata il 19 ottobre 1918 su iniziativa della American Society of Electrical Engineers (oggi IEEE), con l'accordo di altre associazioni professionali, come la ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers), AIMME (American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers),  ASTM - American Society for Testing Materials, col nome American Engineering Standards Committee e riorganizzata come American Standards Association nel 1928. Nel 1966 fu riorganizzata come United States of America Standards Institute. Nel 1969 cambiò il nome in American National Standards Institute.
