ALLELOPATHY

Allelopathy means that one plant harms another with specific biomolecules. While it is sometimes considered the opposite of symbiosis, it is also a component of symbiosis.Conceptually, biomolecules (specifically termed allelochemicals) produced by a plant are released into the environment and subsequently influence the growth and development of neighbouring plants. It is important to keep in mind that allelopathy involves the addition of a chemical compound or compounds (secondary metabolites) into the environment, while resource competition involves the removal or reduction of some factor or factors in the environment (such as nutrients, water, or light).

Allelopathie ist die Eigenschaft von Pflanzen, organische Verbindungen auszuscheiden, welche Wachstum oder Keimen anderer Pflanzen unterbinden oder hemmen. Die Allelopathie kann als spezielle Form der  ökologischen Konkurrenz zwischen Pflanzen angesehen werden.Die Ursache der Allelopathie ist die Abgabe von Stoffen, die direkt oder nach Umwandlung phytotoxisch sind. Die Abgabe kann durch die Wurzeln oder durch das Abwaschen von Blättern erfolgen. Typisches Beispiel ist der Walnussbaum. In seinen Blättern wird ein ungiftiges Glucosid gebildet, das über die Wurzeln oder durch Abwaschen in die Umgebung gelangt. Durch einfache chemische Reaktionen entsteht aus dem zunächst inaktiven Stoff das Juglon, ein Stoff, der Wachstum und Keimung vieler Pflanzen verhindert oder hemmt. Durch Juglon kann das Keimen von Salatpflanzen verhindert werden, Erlen können in der Nähe von Buchen nicht gedeihen.

Allelopatia (z gr. - allelon (wzajemny) i pathos (cierpienie)) - szkodliwy lub korzystny wpływ substancji chemicznych wydzielanych przez rośliny lub grzyby danego gatunku lub pochodzących z rozkładu tych roślin. Allelopatia odnosi się głównie do substancji chemicznych wydzielanych do podłoża, które wpływają na wzrost innych organizmów w bezpośrednim otoczeniu, głównie roślin i bakterii. Substancje mogą pobudzać lub hamować kiełkowanie, a także wzrost i rozwój innych gatunków roślin żyjących w bliskim sąsiedztwie lub zajmujących bezpośrednio po nich to samo miejsce.

Allelopati (av grek. allelon 'varandra' och pathos 'lidande'), vissa växters förmåga att avge ämnen som hindrar andra växters utveckling eller på annat sätt påverkar dessa negativt. Till exempel kan rötter avge ämnen som hindrar andra växters etablering.
