AK-47

The AK-47 (short for ) is an assault rifle used in most Eastern bloc countries during the Cold War. Adopted and standardized in 1947, it was designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov and originally produced by Soviet manufacturer Izhevsk Mechanical Works. Compared with most auto-loading rifles of World War II, the AK-47 is compact, of comparative range, moderate power, and capable of selective fire. It was one of the first true assault rifles and, due to its durability and ease of use, remains the most widely used assault rifle. More AK-type rifles have been produced than any other assault rifle type.

Автомат Калашникова, dosłownie automat Kałasznikowa) - nazwa karabinu automatycznego AK i modeli z niego się wywodzących, pochodząca od nazwiska konstruktora Michała Kałasznikowa. Podstawowy model karabinu AK (określany również jako AK-47) zasilany jest amunicją pośrednią 7,62mm x 39 mm wz. 43. Prace badawcze rozpoczęto w roku 1944, w 1947 broń skierowano do testów zakończonych w rok później. Karabinek AK został oficjalnie przyjęty do uzbrojenia wojsk ZSRR w 1949.

Lo AK-47 (la cui sigla sta per Avtomat Kalashnikova modello 1947) è un fucile mitragliatore (o fucile d'assalto), progettato appunto nel 1947 da Mikhail Kalashnikov, allora sottufficiale dell'Armata Rossa dell'Unione Sovietica.L'AK-47 (o "Kalashnikov", come è popolarmente noto) fu il capofila di una vastissima serie di armi ispirate alle sue concezioni meccaniche, balistiche e d'impiego, per lo più adottate da paesi in qualche misura legati all'Unione Sovietica. È stato affermato che non meno di 50 eserciti regolari lo adottino come arma ordinanza e che ne siano stati prodotti più di 100 milioni di esemplari.
