AGGRADATION

Aggradation in geology is the accumulation of sediment in rivers and nearby landforms. Aggradation occurs when sediment supply exceeds the ability of a river to transport the sediment. As an example, the quantity of sediment entering a river channel may increase when climate becomes drier. The increase in sediment is caused by a decrease in soil binding that results from plant growth being suppressed. The drier conditions cause river flow to decrease at the same time as sediment is being supplied in greater quantities. Hence, the river becomes choked with sediment.

En géologie, l'aggradation est l'accumulation de sédiments dans le lit d'un cours d'eau et ses environs directs. L'aggradation survient lorsque l'apport de sédiments excède les capacités de transport du cours d'eau. Par exemple la quantité de sédiments reçue par un cours d'eau peut augmenter lorsque le climat devient plus sec. La cause de cette augmentation provient de la diminution de la végétation, entrainant une réduction de la résistance du sol à l'érosion. De plus, des conditions plus sèches entrainent une diminution du débit. Le cours d'eau devient obstrué par les sédiments qui s'accumulent.

Anlandung oder auch Aggradation bezeichnet im Gegensatz zur Verlandung eine Ablagerung von Bodenmaterial, das von außen antransportiert (z. B. Kies, Sand, Lehm) und an Küsten und Ufern abgelagert wird. Die Anlandung kann der Beginn einer allogenen (durch äußere Einflüsse bedingten) Sukzession sein. Beispiele: Auenvegetation, Sedimentation und Salzmarschen.

Akumulacja (agradacja, depozycja, namywanie, nanoszenie) - geologiczny proces gromadzenia się osadów (okruchów mineralnych, skał, szczątek roślin i zwierząt) w wyniku działania wody, wiatru, lodowca. Występuje akumulacja lodowcowa, rzeczna i rzeczno-lodowcowa, podstokowa oraz eoliczna. Akumulacja odnosi się do czynników zewnętrznych kształtujących Ziemię.
